Wine Club: Oregon Faves

Oregon wine has never been my strong suit but I keep finding myself going back to the wines of Brooks Winery & Day Wines time and time again. I wanted to feature some of our favorite wines from these two makers as we have received limited quantities of the Brooks and the Day wines come and go so quickly.

Brooks Winery

After traveling the world and experiencing the hard work of winemaking in Beaujolais, Jimi returned to Oregon and found a burgeoning wine world. He devoted the rest of his life to holistic farming and winemaking in the Willamette Valley, showcasing the region’s potential for expressive, complex and balanced Riesling and Pinot Noir.

While Jimi is no longer with us, his strong commitment to biodynamic farming, his gentle approach to winemaking and his excitement for the Willamette Valley terroir live on through our wines and our team.” The life’s work of Jimi Brooks was carried on by his sister Janie Brooks and other close friends & family after his untimely death.

Day Wines

“Founded by winemaker and owner Brianne Day in the 2012 vintage, Day Wines is a producer of boutique, artisanal bottlings made from fruit sourced exclusively from a small group of Oregon growers who utilize Biodynamic, Organic and/or Sustainable vineyard practices. To create distinct expressions of our corner of the world, we focus on fruit harvested from the esteemed Willamette Valley to exotic varietals found in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley AVA.”

WINE CLUB: 4 Bottles

Brooks Winery Willamette Valley Oregon • Pinot Noir

“A dazzling and complex red fruit-driven Pinot Noir. Elegant notes of candied violets on the nose, with bright and vibrant notes of cranberry, wild strawberry, and red currant on the palate with a saline umeboshi plum finish.”

Day Wines ‘Deep Blue’ Willamette Valley Oregon • Pinot Noir

“Deep Blue is a blend of seven biodynamic or organically farmed vineyards in the Willamette Valley; Cassin, Roshni, Johan, Momtazi, Nemarniki, Finnigan Hill and Claygate. The vineyards and barrels we selected were chosen for their deeper, blue and black fruit attributes, as well as their lush and silky textures. Think blueberry pie with baking spices, unsweetened cocoa powder, dark cherry, black raspberries, and summer in a conifer forest.”
